Medway Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce that Sarah Manuel has been selected as their Candidate for the upcoming Rochester East by-election on Thursday 16th December.
Medway Liberal Democrats are deeply disappointed by Tuesday's cabinet meeting, where the ruling Tory administration approved Medway's city bid. What is also deeply concerning was that they approved it without sharing the cost of the bid with the public, and potentially giving the council unlimited funds to spend on this vanity project.
Medway's local plan has been the subject of much discussion and the lack of current Council leadership has had far-reaching consequences for our towns.
Medway Liberal Democrats are concerned that Gillingham town centre and its High Street is yet again, being ignored by the Conservative administration of Medway Council. During the recent budget, central government announced the first winners of its 'Levelling Up' fund, and Medway Council received over £14million for three projects within Chatham town centre. Though we welcome the funds and agree with the need to improve Chatham town centre, we are deeply concerned that all recent funding and attention is on Chatham, whilst other places like Gillingham are ignored.
We are delighted to see that the Planning Inspectorate has dismissed AC Goatham's planning appeal for a development to be built on apple orchards in Rainham.
