'Small Business Saturday should be all year round for Medway' - say Local Liberal Democrats

Small Business Saturday 2022 is on 3rd December, and local Liberal Democrats celebrate and support that this is an excellent opportunity to promote small businesses and to celebrate the contribution smaller businesses make to Medway's economy. We believe that Small Businesses are the heart and soul of Medway's high streets, and it is only by supporting our local independent businesses that we can also help our local high streets to thrive.

'Local Lib Dems are putting persons with disabilities at the heart of their policies for Medway'

International Day of Persons with Disabilities falls on the 3rd of December each year, with the aim of promoting empowerment, and helping to create real opportunities for people with disabilities. This enhances their own capacities and supports them in setting their own priorities. The theme this year is "Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world". As we mark the day, one billion people around the world live with a disability - that's roughly 15% of the global population.

'We are calling for action now, to improve people's access to  Medway GPs' - say local Lib Dems

Liberal Democrats call on the Government to take action to improve people's access to GPs and get urgent appointments. Far too many people in our towns' are struggling to get a GP appointment when they need one, leaving them waiting anxiously for the care they deserve. In September alone, nationally 8.9 million GP appointments involved a wait of more than a week, with 5 million waiting longer than the Government's own target of two weeks.

Medway Liberal Democrats are calling for free school meals to be extended to all primary school-aged children. Free school meals for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes were introduced by the Lib Dems in Government in 2012. Now Lib Dems in our area are backing the National Education Union campaign to extend free school meals to all primary school children in Medway.
