We are in the middle of the worst cost of living crisis for 50 years. Inflation is forecast to hit 18% next year and spiralling energy costs are leaving many people in Medway struggling to pay their household bills and the disastrous impact this year's increases in the energy price cap has had on local people:

Medway Liberal Democrats are calling on the Government to cancel the October energy price cap increase - as Medway residents prepare for their energy bills to rise by up to 70% . The latest price cap - the maximum amount suppliers can charge customers for average energy usage in England, Scotland and Wales for October - is due to be announced at the end of this month and will come into affect in October.
Conservative Leader of Medway Council, Alan Jarrett, has stated that the local plan is heading back to Regulation 18. Before this term of office, Regulation 18 had already been passed and the objective was to proceed through Regulation 19 and examination in public in order to put the local plan in place. The Conservative led council has not only failed to progress the local plan during this term of office, but has now arrived at a point when the only way to proceed to go back to the start and begin Regulation 18 all over again.
