Party People - October 2016

With the Brexit saga rolling on and on without seemingly moving forward; With increasingly disappointing education results being addressed by simply rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic (by re-introducing grammar schools whilst not providing all pupils in all schools in all subjects with fully and properly qualified teachers), one wonders whether there is anything local authorities can do to genuinely improve the lot of the people they supposedly represent.

18 year old activist selected to fight for Strood South

The Medway Liberal Democrats have chosen Isabelle Cherry, an 18 year old activist, as their candidate for the Strood South by-election Isabelle Cherry, an 18 year old activist, has been chosen to lead the charge for the party. The Strood South ward has significantly high levels of income deprivation compared with the average for Medway - the proportion of children living in poverty in the area stands at over 25%.

Screens in £7M bus station impossible to read

A bus station which opened in Chatham less than 5 years ago has come under fire from residents, after it was discovered that the information screens are unable to be used in sunny weather. Medway Lib Dems have been talking to the council on behalf of local residents in order to help solve the problem.
