Medway Lib Dems propose major changes to the Road provisions in the HIF consultation

Medway Lib Dems have reviewed the proposals in the Hoo - Routes to Good Growth consultation document and made a comprehensive submission to the HIF Team. The proposals in the consultation document were found to be weak and deemed poor in their effectiveness in serving the residents of Hoo and the surrounding areas. Our proposals are intended to be constructive. In our view the lack of ambition shown, combined with proposals that are unacceptable for a variety of reasons make the highway section far weaker than the proposed rail infrastructure. The proposed flyover at Wainscott is unnecessary and we have objected to it. The use of the existing military road is not a viable option and the junction is very poorly designed. The current proposed changes to the Four Elms Roundabout will not serve the long term needs of Hoo or the surrounding areas of Medway. There is already a traffic flow problem that this roundabout significantly contributes towards, and the predictable increase in traffic from additional housing
