Medway Liberal Democrats select Paul Chaplin as their candidate in Gillingham and Rainham

Medway Liberal Democrats have selected Paul Chaplin to be their candidate for Gillingham and Rainham on June 8^th. Having stood in the 2015 general election, Paul has the necessary experience to represent the constituency again in this snap General Election.

Paul is a proud remainer and believes that we are better together, he also respects the decision of the referendum to leave. There should be minimum terms laid down for any Brexit deal negotiated; these should include:

• Keeping Britain in the single market
• To keep our membership of the European Courts of Justice
• To protect the rights of workers and consumers, and
• to allow EU nationals to remain in the UK

Paul made the following statement outlining his commitments.

If elected as your MP for Gillingham and Rainham I will:

• Campaign to have the Mental Health unit at Medway hospital re-instated
• Campaign for our children, regardless of background, to be educated properly and to ensure all schools in Medway are ranked as good
• Campaign for the council to set up a register of approved private landlords to better protect tenants
• Campaign to ensure the council have the right mix of both affordable, and social housing on all future developments.
• Campaign for 16-19 year olds in Medway to have free or subsidised travel
