Local Liberal Democrats launch their bold Health Policy Plan for Medway
Local Lib Dems recognise the importance of improving and maintaining people's health and reducing health inequalities for Medway. Broken down into the five most important issues, we have laid out how we can, as a local party, offer practical solutions to implementing health policies for practitioners in our towns (see attached graphic).

John Castle, Lib Dems candidate for St Mary's Island said, "The current GP crisis, requires action at a national level to improve recruitment and retention of GPs. Additionally, due to underfunding over many years by Government, the NHS is stretched to breaking point
Our local third policy area, puts forward new ways of thinking about and improving health and of responding to ill-health in Medway. It has the potential to change the way practitioners engage with individuals and the way planners design health places and services. I also hope that it creates an opportunity for real dialogue between Medway residents and practitioners, on the basis of each policy area having something to offer and develop a better way of providing services.
Medway Liberal Democrats will play a crucial role in building constructive relationships between the NHS, local government and partners, including the voluntary sector, communities and other bodies. This policy will promote well-being through the provision of services for the areas we want to represent, and address the so-called 'democratic deficit' in local health services.
Our policy takes into account the health implications of the decisions we make; targets the key social determinants of health; looks for synergies between health and other core objectives and the work we do with partners with the aim of improving the health of the population and reducing inequity."
As we approach the local 2023 elections, Medway is in desperate need of fresh new ideas and our health policy plans offer a bold and fresh approach. Medway Liberal Democrats want to make real change happen to our community.
