Local Lib Dems launch their petition to improve Davis Estate bus services
'Davis Estate bus service needs improving, protecting and saved' - says local Lib Dem campaigner
Liberal Democrats have launched a petition to save bus services to Davis Estate from further cuts. The current service is inadequate and Viv Parker, Medway Liberal Democrats candidate for Fort Horsted, is campaigning to get them improved. Anyone who has tried to catch a bus from Davis Estate knows how terrible the service has been since Covid. After the end of August 2022, they have reintroduced only two extra runs on weekdays.
This means the service finishes at 2pm, and the early morning runs have not been reinstated at all. This has resulted in hard-working people, who rely totally on getting the bus to their place of work, cannot earn a living. So, Viv Parker has set up a petition that calls on Medway Council to sit down with the Nu-Venture bus company and determine ways they can fund the bus service on Davis Estate to ensure they can improve the frequency of services. You can sign our petition via the link at: https://signme.org.uk/2002
Viv Parker said, "The service is a lifeline to so many local people. Without it, people will be cut off from shops, services, medical appointments, and even friends and family. The Lib Dems will not stand by and let this service be lost forever. We have launched a petition to protect the bus route.
We understand that no-one wants to the cancel this bus route, and bus operators are under significant pressure at the moment. We would encourage all local residents to sign the petition as soon as possible. The more signatures we have the more weight the petition will hold."
