'Lib Dem activist waters malnourished trees'

19 Jun 2023

10 brand new trees at The Strand in Gillingham were left malnourished in the hot weather and left to die by Medway Council.

Ben Rist, Liberal Democrat Community Champion for Gillingham North gave each new tree at The Strand in Gillingham 6 litres of water each.

Ben Rist says "Trees are vital to our environment and we have to look after them as much as we do humans. It is unacceptable for Medway Council to have allowed the trees to become malnourished and start to die. They protect us by giving oxygen into the air and are essential to try and stop climate change and prevent carbon emissions from entering the air.

This little piece of action tells all, it shows people we care about our community. We are likely to hold more tree saving action days at The Strand where other people have pledged to help. Everyone is welcome, many hands make light work."
