In response to the news about HRH Prince Philip, Graham Colley LibDem PCC candidate for Kent said:

"At this time, my heart goes out to the Queen, not as my head of state, but as a fellow being. She has lost not only the husband she loved, but her closest support, confidant and consort.

Since learning of the sad news, I have spent time thinking about what HRH Prince Philip meant to me and to all of us. Perhaps, above all, I admired his sense of duty to those in the country of his adoption (he was, after all, in effect, a refugee). Unfortunately, our society appears to have moved from Prince Philip's notion of duty, to promotion of self.

To honour him, I believe we should try, in our individual lives, to show that sense of duty to others and to our society."
